In the wake of the retirement of their starting quarter, the Saints of New Orleans sign a non-drafted recruit which lastly played in a community college.
Hunter Dekkers signed with the NFL team after imposing the coaches during a test at their mini recruit, in several reports.
Dekkers will be one of the four -quarters in competition for a list place – the veterans Spencer Rattle and Jake Haener being joined by the choice of the second round Tyler Shough in Louisville.
These four players could potentially see the time following the shock retirement from the starting quarter of Derek Carr.
Dekkers has previous university experience, after replacing Brock Purdy as a quarter-arre from the Iowa State.
However, he was forced to transfer to the juco level after losing his eligibility for the NCAA due to illegal games.
Dekkers turned out to have placed a bet of $ 15 on one of the games of his own teams during the 2022 season.
The Saints of New Orleans signed the quarter-Arrière Hunter Dekkers to an NFL contract

Dekkers spent last season in an Iowa community college. He was previously the quarter-back from the Iowa State (above), but lost his eligibility to place bets on his team’s matches.

The signing of dekkers comes after the quarter-back that started Derek Carr retirement of the saints
That year, Dekkers finished 66% of his passes for 3,044 yards, 19 touched and 14 interceptions for cyclones in a 4-8 season.
He had to be the starter in 2023, but the scandal meant that he did not play. In its place, Rocco Becht started for cyclones.
In a season of Dekkers with the Iowa Western CC, he made a file of 11-2, launched for 3,806 yards and launched for 32 affected and ten interceptions.
Carr’s sudden retirement throws a dark perspective for a team of saints who was already to fight in 2025.
Now, without a real starting quarter, New Orleans could already turn to Tank for the draft of the NFL 2026.
The new head coach Kellen Moore revealed that Shough, Rattle and Haener will all fight for the starting place – and that they could all see the time from start to regular season.
Last year, the saints finished last in the NFC South with a 5-12 file. This earned them the ninth choice in total in the draft, which they used to choose the Kelvin Banks Jr offensive platform in Texas.
