John Keim covers Washington Commanders for ESPN. He joined ESPN in 2013 after a visit with the Washington Post. He began to cover the team in 1994 for newspapers in the newspaper and later for the Washington Examine. He is the author / co-author of four books. You can also listen to it on “The John Keim Report”, which is broadcast on ESPN Richmond Radio.

Washington commanders’ commanders, Dan Quinn, could have summed up his start speech in just four words. But, as he said to the 100th promotion of his Alma Mater – University of Salisbury – who would make a speech too short.

    Quinn therefore pronounced some remarks.

To conclude it, he delivered a punch with direct elimination, using the four aforementioned words.

“Leave it F — ING RIP!” Quinn said, before moving away from the podium to applause.

    Publisher’s choice

Quinn – who, with his wife, Stacey, obtained an honorary doctorate – implored graduates to be aggressive and to seize opportunities. Quinn has been working for a long time with a mental skills coach, which has helped him over the years channel all negative thoughts in positive solutions.

He told students to transform nerves into positive energy.

“Kiss all this,” Quinn told the crowd. “I want to be really clear on this subject: the whole world is open to you. My wish and my hope for each of you is not to let the world change. You go and change the world.”

Sometimes Quinn’s speech looked like what he said to his players. He wished students an “abundance of success” but also said that he wished them “really hard fights because this is where growth is, where you will learn and teach – and where your superpowers are absolutely revealed.”

Quinn explained to them how after graduating from Salisbury, where he played on the defensive line, he applied for 115 division I football jobs. He received no interview.

“It may have changed my course, but I didn’t let it change my belief,” said Quinn.
