Atlanta Falcons coach Kevin Koger interviewed the Dallas cowboys and the Cleveland Browns in the spring, but refused an interview with the New Orleans, declaring that he was “not linked to the rivalry”.

Koger worked with the first-year head coach of the saints, Kellen Moore, in 2023, when Moore was with the Los Angeles loaders. But when the saints called him for an interview for the post of attacking coordinator, Koger politely refused.

Los Angeles Loaders of Te Kevin Koger’s coach during the OTA team in 2023.

“It was regrettable that the timing is simply not just in terms of what we had here,” said Koger Atlanta Falcons if. “Here I had homework and responsibilities that I wanted to continue. I made promises to the Falcons. So it was a bad timing more than anything else, guy.”

Koger would also say: “I would never have thought that I would be in a position where I would refuse interviews, especially with a guy for whom I have so much respect, but it was nothing more than bad timing.”

Speaking of not being rivalry, “I would like to be able to say that I was so intelligent,” said Koger. “But no, it was more than the timing in which it happened. It was simply not ideal for both sides.”

The saints called for interest just over a month after Koger had already interviewed the Cowboys and the Browns. The saints would finally fulfill the post with Doug Nussmeier, with whom Koger had trained for nine seasons at the University of Michigan.

Koger appreciated his time spent with the two teams saying: “It is always good to obtain these opportunities and obtain these representatives and make constructive criticism in terms of domains that I can improve to be better,” said Koger. “I would not get these representatives without players and guys here. So, very grateful to be able to be put in this position, but there is more work to do.”

The offensive coordinator of Falcons, Zac Robinson, said that he thought that Koger was ready to assume an attacking coordinator.

“Shoot, ‘Koge’ was great,” said Robinson. “Very lucky to be able to get him into the staff last year, and I think he continues to go up. It is great that he had these opportunities. While waiting to make him another step this season. He has a great understanding of what is happening in the race game, the passage game.

“The coach of a tight end, they knew a lot. They got to know the racing game inside and outside their position throughout the line. They got to know the details of the passenger game. So I think Koger is on an excellent track, and we are really lucky to have it, he is an excellent coach.”
