After four seasons with the Vikings of Minnesota, the Rusher passes Patrick Jones II signed an agreement To join the Carolina Panthers earlier this year. In 2024, the quarter’s quarter pressure rate of 22.7% ranked last in the NFL. A gigantic difference compared to what the Vikings did last season with Jones on their list, when they ranked second in the league with a pressure rate of 44.3%.
Jones recently spoke with David Newton of ESPN, and when he was asked if Carolina could duplicate the success of the Minnesota bridge in 2024, the young panthers defender shared a declaration It is one of the most delusional things that we said this off -season
“I really think we could do something similar, if not better. I have already seen it, so I know what it looks like. I look around and I see that we have exactly what it takes to do that.”
Patrick Jones II thinks that the Panthers of Caroline 2025 may have a better rush to the passes than the Vikings of Minnesota 2024
It is great that Jones is confident about the prospects of his new team. But there is a big difference between being confident and being unrealistic.
Currently, Jones and his colleague former choice of Vikings draft, DJ Wonnum, are on the right track to open the 2025 season as Top Towo Rushers in Carolina. There is a reason why Minnesota let the two go to a free agency, and it was not because they thought they were about to become elite rushers.
According to PFF data, Wonnum ranked 65th among all NFL rushers last season with a 10.7 victory rate on pass snaps, and Jones ranked 98th with a 6.7 victory rate. These are not exactly numbers that indicate that they emerge as the next big passe-rash duo in the league.
Of course, no one can predict the future, so maybe Jones could end up being correct. But on the basis of what he and Wonnum have done on the ground in their professional career so far, they transforming the rush towards the passes of the panthers into a nightmare of an opposing quarter is not something that anyone should bet.
