Deatrich Wise embracing the culture of Washington Commanders

The veteran Deatrich Wise Jr. brings leadership, versatility and a breathtaking state of mind to commanders, integrating perfectly into the Dan Quinn culture program.

Ashburn, Virginie – The head coach of Washington Commanders knew enough about the defensive line player Deatrich Wise Jr. that he and the director general Adam Peters thought that the veteran would make this team of this offsend.

When the news announced that Wise signed with the commanders, Quinn had some insurance fairly quickly.

“Sometimes you get a text after you (sign) someone and say:” guy, this guy is remarkable “,” said Quinn. “This is generally a good sign, and that was the case with (wise) … It was easy to see how he would integrate here.”

The coach has continued to share part of his vision of how Wise will integrate with the defense in Washington, how much he plays blocks, how he remains square at the melee line, and on his history as a defender of the solid race for the New England Patriots in the past eight seasons.

Adjustment as a person, not just a player

Wise is not there, however, to play a role in defense; He is a veteran and no player is brought to this organization unless the front office believes that it will contribute to the strong culture established in the first year under Peters and Quinn.

In an exclusive interview on the Locked on commanders Podcast, Wise talked about his role and how he works to settle inside the team brotherhood.

“The best thing I do is to learn people, learn my teammates, learn my friends, learn staff. You cannot direct anyone if you don’t know anyone, ”he says. “You can’t help anyone if you don’t know what’s going on. At the moment, being just a follower in the sense of learning how he does their business, learning what the norm means to Washington, to learn how (defensive coordinator Joe Whitt Jr.) wants his defense to have run, learning how (the defensive line Darryl TAPP) wants learning, learning, learning. I feel like I know that I must be able to dominate every day. »»

By doing these things and entering the stage like someone who tries to get with the way the commanders do, Wise can bring his “patriotic” experience that includes a Super Bowl championship, and, let’s hope, help have an impact on the biggest field of need for the team.

“DQ and coach Whitt did a great job throughout this season, speaking of things we have to do on the field to stop the race,” said Wise. “They always talk about the fundamental techniques and principles that we must have. The coach Whitt talks about the details and how we have to play in practice, and (how) what we do in practice will take the game fee … and my main thing here is to make games for them. Stop the race, affect the quarter-back and help this team win matches.”

    Man of many skills

Versatility is a characteristic of many young commanders who have joined the list in the past 18 months. Not all veterans have shared this same characteristic.

Wise is not one of those veterans, because it brings an ability to the coach Whitt to move him almost everywhere in the first four of his defense.

“I can play inside, I can play outside. I’m strong. I have long arms. I’m very powerful. So my main goal is to display that every match,” said Wise.

The line player has the impression of having obtained a doctorate in football during his first eight seasons in the NFL, and was able to master several responsibilities that could be asked to take inside the organization.

“In the end, it’s football: put your hand in it, beat the man in front of you, make a game,” said Wise. “And it is something that I grew up not only, but that I learned to master different ways of doing this inside, outside, nine technologies, six, five, four, three, do not always play in the shade, but I can play in the shade. I can go down with the big guys.”

For more clarification, the numbered numbers of wise refers are associated with a defensive line player aligns in a training. Everyone is called a “technique” with nine, or wide, being the most distant outside a defensive line player will align. The smaller the number, the closer the player is the center. The “nuance” is the position aligned on the inner shoulder of the center on each side of it, and is also called 1 technique. Zero-Tech would be the nose plate, aligned directly in the center.

    More than a game

So much impact that Wise has had and seeks to do now in Washington, he reaches even more people with his efforts out of the field.

With Wise Up FoundationHe and his family aim to push (supply, unite, support and honor) several communities and groups of different people who could benefit from a helping hand.

“Inspiration came from my family,” said Wise. “We always went to popular soups. We always went to clothing readers, toy readers in our childhood, and my father was really big in service. He always told us that the service was a price you pay for your stay here on earth, and I said to myself: “I am sold. I ADORE. »»

Wise says that the main objective of the Foundation is to restore, impact on others and to create programs that will have a lasting impact beyond the day, the month or the year, they could meet a person directly.

And the foundation is as versatile as the player. Football camps for line editors, something that was not as widespread when Wise himself presented himself as a young baller, their business school program that helps those who do not enter into university or professional environments to find passionate competence, or to provide meals during critical holidays to veterans who could benefit from the familiar feeling with others with previous services while learning Their life after life, there is really no limit to the quantity of people.

And it’s really an overview of which is itself. Someone who understands the true value of life is in the impact that you have an impact on others, and doing it with intention and determination.

This is how he tackles his new team and how he approached his life. Asked what his new fans base should know about him, Wise said: “Every day, I do my best to learn the ways of Washington commanders, and I will always be that person to give 100% each time I am on the ground. This is what I am. That’s what I always have, always done. “

Daniel Wise, Deatrich’s younger brother, spent two years with Washington in 2021 and 2022. The older brother said he was told how good the fans was, and this approval helped him make him excited to Washington.

To judge by the sounds of things, the adjustment is appreciated on both sides of the internal relationship, and so wise can achieve the vision that he and the coach Quinn have for him in 2025, the base of fans will feel and share a lot of love to which he was told.

To find out more about this, and all the subjects of the Washington commanders, listen daily to Wusa9 and the Podcast Locked on commanders.
