What Chicago bears think that improved race defense can mean

Very early in Wednesday OTA practiceThe offensive tried a racing game on the left side.

OTA racing games can be important for learning racing adjustments but not much more because there is no real contact or fighting outings out of season not faded. However, there are thrusts, thrusts and supported on people to a certain extent.

Big Andrew Billings pushed a little more and made sure that the entire blocking scheme stuck in the rear field before it begins to form. The authorities blew up the game in a meter or two in the rear field and defensive players Closed around Billings, screaming as if it was a goal line at Soldier Field in December.

There is now a vast debate among the fans of the Bears on how defense may need an additional rusher, but what the defense has done in terms of staff to consolidate the race defense can go much further towards the stop of adversaries that a third or fourth rusher on board which could make four or five bags.

The defensive coordinator Dennis Allen brings another type of more aggressive scheme, but what is important in his program was important in their last defense and the previous one.

“We understand that we have to stop the race to precipitate the pass, and everyone likes to rush the pass, but you must first stop the race,” said Monitor Sweat. “So, it’s really a great accent in his defense and that’s what we plan to do.”

It is obvious what sweat said is true. One -dimensional offenses become easier to stop.

The stopping of the race is an act and a violent mentality which lead to an effective global defense.

Last season 10 of the 11 best race defenses made the series, including the first seven. Only four of the 10 best passenger defenses were in teams that made the playoffs.

The Bears collapsed in the 28th in total of authorized ground yards (2,317) after having led in 2023 (1,468). They were next to the duration against the race in 2022 (2,674).

The difference was partly losing the defensive platform Andrew Billings to a pectoral tear, and coach Ben Johnson noticed how his own Detroit offense could feel the absence of Billings in advance in the two games they made in the Bears last year.

So recover Billings helps, but he is not the end as a race defender. After a quick start, they fell 14th against the race through the match that Billings underwent the injury, so they were less effective anyway. Then they fell 14 places.

Billings was not the only race defender they were missing.

They missed the support of the jaquan Brisker race in security, but they no longer had Justin Jones. Their old technique had gone to the cardinals and without Jones and Billings inside, and with Gervon Dexter not really a great contributor stopping the race, they collapsed.

The Defense of the Bears had 22 plated for the loss of Jones during its two seasons, a 3-technical task are supposed to provide in this program. Last year, without Jones and with Billings missing half the year, their best defensive tackle in TFLS was the Byron Cowart backup with five.

This is why the acquisition of Grady Jarrett was so important.

“First of all, it is difficult,” said defensive line coach Jeremy Garrett. “This is the norm for our line D. We want to be hard. He is explosive. He is violent. He is a very instinctive player and a playmaker. We see that on a band and we like it about it.

“And he is a dynamic leader, but he also put the work. He won this leading role. It is not that he presents himself and said:” I am Grady “. He puts work. He likes the ball.

In addition, the editorial staff of Shemar Turner was important because 3-rescue 3-tech, since Garrett is in their thirties. The acquisition of a big advantage in Dayo Odeyingbo was also critical.

“So, really impatient, first of all, we want to see a difficult group, a difficult defense in general,” said Garrett. “It starts in advance. Mentally hard, physically hard. We want to see an implacable pursuit. We want to hit blocks. We want to attack in advance. We want to push the guys.”

The stopping of the race facilitates the precipitation of the passer.

The Defense of Bears believes that it has made major progress towards this objective even without the additional rotation of rotation added.
