Jonnu Smith found a house in the Miami dolphins, and he doesn’t want to leave.

While commercial rumors are starting to swirl around the tight veteran, his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, set the record straight. Speaking on Sports Xtra, he said that Smith’s absolute priority was to stay with the Dolphins.

“Jonnu (Smith) would certainly like to stay in Miami”, ” He said. “This is his first choice … His dream team is the Dolphins. And I hope everything varies here, he can stay in Miami. ”

Smith’s desire to stay is easy to understand.

In 2024, he had the best season in his career. He transported 88 receptions for 884 yards and eight affected. These figures have established new deductible recordings for a tight end of dolphins. His chemistry with the quarter-Arrière Tua Tagovailoa helped trigger Miami’s passes game, especially in clutch situations.

This level of production earned him his First selection of Pro Bowl And generalized praise in the league, but the future remains uncertain.

Smith is entering an agreement of two years worth $ 8.4 million in the last year. He wants an extension that reflects his impact, and so far, the Dolphins have not engaged in new conditions.

Such hesitation has opened the door to commercial speculation. Among the concerned teams are the Pittsburgh steelers. Their attacking coordinator, Arthur Smith, led Jonnu to Tennessee and Atlanta and remains a figure of confidence in his career.

Smith’s path to this point was not easy. Written by Titans du Tennessee in 2017, the 29 -year -old spent four seasons becoming a reliable option in their offense. In 2020, he caught eight passed passes, showing signs of the player he would later become.

He signed with the Patriots of New England in 2021, but his time was disappointing. After two quiet seasons, he was exchanged in the Falcons, where he posted 50 catches and more than 580 reception yards in 2023.

Released at the beginning of 2024, Smith took a chance on Miami and took advantage of it. His success with the Dolphins overthrew his career and made him a key element of their offense.

Now the question is whether the front office will invest in its future. Smith clearly said he wanted to stay and the ball is in the Miami court.
