Steelers listed as a sales candidate for the former Rodgers teammate Originally appeared on Sports Athlon.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed up for the Aaron Rodgers experience. Basically, they find that they have agreed to be linked to just about all the veterans of Green Bay Packers who shared the land with Rodgers.

When the quarter-back linked to Canton was exchanged at the New York Jets, a handful of packers followed it or welcomed it as part of its recruitment. The Steelers will not be as aggressive. Rodgers plays a cameo, rather than the role of Savior. His signature came later in the offseason, the list is more talented and rodgers less lever than in East Rutherford.
Despite this, Pittsburgh remained under the spotlight. For end -of -season rumors, it means being attached to packers like the Christian Watson receiver.
“Watson could well be the most gifted player in the wide receiver room for packers, but there is a reason why Green Bay spent two recovery choices in April; the 26-year-old veteran missed several games due to an injury in each of his first three seasons of the NFL, offering the pack a real boom-ou-bust experience on the perimeter,” Cody Benjamin wrote for CBS Sports.
“With Matthew Golden and Savion Williams online for important roles as recruits, the packers could be ready for sale Watson as he recovers from an ACL tear? Rodgers may have to wait later in 2025 to find the speedster accordingly, but the potential of fireworks at the end of the season could be bet. ”

However, there are several reasons why Pittsburgh is not suitable for Watson, despite the familiarity of the 2022 season.
On the one hand, Watson is still recovering from his tear of the LCA at the end of the season. This puts him on the right track to return at some point during the year, playing a minor role late in the season. With his medicals in question, it is difficult to imagine that the Steelers exchange something other than a day choice for his services.
Green Bay is not encouraged to accept this, taking into account his own hopes of title and his relations with the quarter-rear Jordan Love. If he played splashing games in January, packers prefer to see him in green and yellow to receive a late selection.
Green Bay’s head coach Matt Lafleur spoke about Watson’s recovery on Thursday concerning a return earlier than expected.

“Probably not, to be honest,” admitted Lafleur.
“The guys available, that’s what you train and that’s a bit where you are focusing,” he added. “It is exciting to see how far he is, he does a great job, he attacks him in the right direction. Our trainers have done exceptional work with him. I think he is in the best place possible given the circumstances.”
In addition, the Steelers already have a vertical threat to the border that wins with size and speed. His name is DK Metcalf. Watson’s underdeveloped intermediate game does not correspond well to start like Z for Pittsburgh. With medical luggage in his profile and the commitment of the Steelers to 2026 Capital, they should not expect them to exchange against Watson.
