If the Pittsburgh steelers wanted another wide receiver, these two can be their best options.

If the Pittsburgh steelers wanted another wide receiver, these two can be their best options. Originally appeared on Sports Athlon.

The Pittsburgh steelers confirmed who was their QB (welcome to town, Aaron Rodgers!) And they confirmed who was their second option receiver, but that may not prevent the team from buying a more ideal package for DK Metcalf before the training camp.

Aside from the new Wideout of the Steelers, which was paid $ 150 million after his job, the offensive options could still be thin with Calvin Austin in WR2.

Robert Woods and Roman Wilson joining Metcalf and Austin to complete the reception corps probably require a more depth touch to be competitive in AFC North during this narrow window with Aaron Rodgers, 41, in the quarter.

Some “names” are still there, but the managing director Omar Khan would have a lot of his offers. Or free agents have given the Steelers the cold shoulder, leading to any real action.

The veteran Keenan Allen has already canceled rumors about to sign or want to play Pittsburgh, so the Steelers will have to rotate.

Unfortunately, the free agency market is quite dry everywhere else.

These two can be the best options of the Steelers before being forced to stick to what they have:

    Chris Olave, New Orleans

The Saints of New Orleans cannot feel very confident in their quarter situation for 2025. With Derek Carr retirement, they are stuck with Spencer Rattle, Jake Haener or Tyler Shough taking starting clichés – all the players who have a very small initial experience, not to mention an impressive capacity shown in their minimum NFL action.

What the saints have is a wide receiver of studs to Chris Olave.

At just 24 years old, New Orleans could get a lot of value for him in a trade if they decided that the QB dilemma would be too much a burden for its development and future success with the franchise.

For Steelers, this decision could make the most sense for the future of the Pittsburgh receptor room according to the way it aligns the new Metcalf contract.

Olave has two more years on its recruit contract, which means that it will not be due for an extension before the third year of the time of Metcalf to Pittsburgh.

As Renard Sports suggests: “Steelers could acquire Olave with the intention of signing it to a long -term contract on the road and let Metcalf walk after the expiration of his contract, choosing simply to invest in the first years of [Metcalf’s] Carrière, “-that is to say when he is twinned with his new friend Rodgers (as long as it lasts).

There are several hoops to jump – with the injuries to the head of Olave limiting it to only eight games played in 2024 and New Orleans even hearing this idea in the first place – but the addition of Olave in the fold immediately makes the air attack of Pittsburgh more dynamic and versatile with the speed of the Metcalf ball outside.

    Amari Cooper, free agent

The second option is not as flashy or promising for the future, but it is a safe investment – and probably inexpensive – for the immediate depth of the list during the one -year contract of Rodgers.

Amari Cooper is on the free market after a rough blow with the Browns of Cleveland and Buffalo Bills last season which included a mid-season business. Cooper was a 1,000 yards receiver capable as recently as 2023 and turned out to be an excellent co-star in an offense … But last season left teams now that it is to be won.

No one is interested in his services if he has not been recovered at this stage of the offseason … until something changes in his training camp. Pittsburgh may not have much competition if they want to take a step here.

The Steelers would need the best version of Cooper, but it is not a guarantee now that he is almost 31 years old and joins what could be his third team in the middle of a year and a half. His accusations spent in low effort when things are not going well could also be a disturbing note.

The good side is that Cooper would not do much damage to the ceiling on an agreement of one year “proven-it”.

Of course, these are all projections that are still hypothetical. According to the coach of the Large Receiver Zach Azzanni, the Steelers plan to assemble the offensive with the past weapons that currently have.

But a real “all-in” approach that equips the best rodgers to succeed at least this season
