In a series of tweets, Landis Alexander, the father of the former corner half of Green Bay Packers, Jaire Alexander, shed light on the reasons why his son finally ended up separating from the packers. Last week, before Minicamp, Green Bay chose to release Alexander after the contractual negotiations failed to produce an agreement that satisfied the two parties.
According to the elder Alexander, the cornerback was “very willing to restructure” the agreement he had with the packers, but says that Green Bay wanted him to play under a contract that had no guaranteed money. He also declared that the offer that the packers presented jaire “would have been stupid to take”, and that Alexander “was not willing to play for damn close”.

Regarding Alexander’s injuries, Landis said that Jaire was unable to straighten his leg during his injury series in 2024 and suggested that the Packers’ medical staff misunderstood the corner injury last year. As a reminder, Alexander played in weeks 1-3, 6-8 and 11 (for the 10 snaps) before missing the last seven weeks of the season in 2024. He was placed in the injured reserve one day before the final of the regular season of Green Bay.
Although we did not know the exact details of the contractual offer that Alexandre has received, this certainly provides a context for what has happened in the past two months. There is a game of blame revolving around Alexander’s injuries, and the packers did not want to pay the high price for Alexander after missing 20 games in the last two seasons.
If Landis’s pretension that the jurician contract was not to present any guaranteed money, this probably means that the agreement proposed to Alexander would have presented a minimum basic wage with the rest of the money bonus money per game, essentially team to week to week to week to be a game factor.
