Panthers Eye Veteran Safety in the middle of the current upgrades Originally appeared on Sports Athlon.
The Carolina Panthers have always explored options to add talents to their security unit, the free agent Justin Simmons emerging as a potential target. Jeremy Fowler of ESPN recently mentioned on the 97.5 The Fanatic of Philadelphia, which Carolina is one of the teams showing the interest in the double safety of the pro Bowl, alongside the Eagles of Philadelphia.

“This is why the Eagles are on the restricted list there,” said Fowler. “It is Philadelphia, it is Caroline, who is interested in Simmons. Ejiro Evero came from Vic Fangio school. This is where I think you should look for Simmons.”
Simmons, who spent 2024 with the Falcons of Atlanta, is known for his playing capacity, including the six best interceptions of the NFL in 2022 under the defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero, now with the Panthers. “Simmons is interesting, because I think I get out of Atlanta, I think he is looking for this great scheme,” noted Fowler.
The familiarity of Simmons with the defensive scheme influenced by Vic Fangio d’Evero makes Caroline a place of logical landing. Although Simmons was almost 32, he started the 16 games for Atlanta last season and posted 62 plated and two interceptions.
Despite the signing of Tre’von Moehrig to a $ 51 million contract over three years earlier this offseason, the security depth of the panthers remains thin. Apart from Moehrig, the list includes a mixture of young and not proven talents such as Lathan Ransom, Nick Scott and several non -drained recruits.

Panthers have already shown interest in other veterans security, including Julian Blackmon and Marcus Williams. As the training camp approaches, Caroline can take another step to consolidate its secondary school and bring veteran leaders to a young defensive group.
