Jaire Alexander and the Green Bay packers had been together for several seasons, but in June, the organization made the surprising decision to cut links with the double Cornerback All-Pro. Many assumed that packers would develop a job to obtain value in exchange for Alexander, but that has never materialized. Instead, Director General Brian Gutekunst met Alexander for a last attempt to restructure before releasing him.
“The Packers GM Brian Gutekunst met in person CB Jaire Alexander on Sunday one last time, probably giving him a last chance to restructure / reduce his contract and when he refused, Alexander was released from the team the next morning. Jaire has not yet commented on this offseason,” wrote the journalist Packers Mike Clemens.
While Alexander remained silent at the time, his father quickly approached the situation after the release, criticizing the packers to not offer any guaranteed money in the proposed restructuring agreement.
“In order not to have a guarantee, there was where we had the problem. It was not the amount in dollars, it was money without guarantee,” said his father. “It’s a bit insulting to reach twice all-pro, and someone who has given you blood, sweat and tears, and not have guarantees.”
After his release, Alexander regained his former teammate from the college by signing with the Ravens of Baltimore, although he has taken a significant salary reduction to do so. After a while, Alexander finally shared his message for packers fans.
“Looking back to Green Bay, I made a lot of lasting relationships there. I only have love for the city. I think I just want to go ahead and how I can excel here,” Said Alexander.

Green Bay was all that Alexander had known since the start of his career in the NFL. Now he is starting a new chapter in Baltimore. Despite the frustration of his father and the rocky end, Alexander clearly said that his love for the inhabitants of Green Bay remains. He didn’t want to leave the Packers organization, but in the end, he had to do what was best for his future.
