The training camp is not easy for Tim Patrick.

The veteran receiver was sometimes a reflection afterwards in the Detroit lions“New offense and fully admit” it took me a minute “to find his groove.

But with more than a month before the start of the regular season, Patrick said this week that he was convinced that he would be back to train by The opening of the Lions season September 7 against Green bay packers.

“This is the first time that I have been going through a camp like this,” said Patrick. “So yes, I’m starting a little slowly, but I promise you when the season will come, I’m going to shoot all the cylinders.”

Patrick gave the Lions a big elevator last season after signing at the end of the training camp. He missed all the 2022-23 seasons with the Denver Broncos Due to injuries and was part of the initial cup of this team to a list of 53 men last year.

In Detroit, Patrick became a reliable n ° 3 receiver. He started nine games, caught 33 passes for 394 yards and finished sixth by voting for the return player of the year.

According to all the accounts, Patrick looks and feels well physically while he enters his 32 -year season (he is 32 years old on November 23).

The Lions quarterly, Jared Goff said that Patrick seemed faster now than it was a season.

“He seems to have aged a year, like Benjamin Button,” said Goff. “He looked great. It was fun to work with him.”

And Patrick said his body felt “brilliant” that came out of his first healthy off -season in three years.

“This is why I am just frustrated that it does not manifest itself at the moment, because in OTA, that has done it,” he said. “The training camp is a little different. I just have to take this (explained).”

Shawn Windsor: Detroit Lions’ pre-season should begin … in the shadow of Strait Tigers, as it should be.

Even if he does, Patrick is not a lock to be as involved in the offense this fall as last year.

The man back Kalif Raymond had a strong camp and is in good health after missing the time last season with a knee injury. Two and two floors sets could become more widespread while the new offensive coordinator John Morton seeks to create discrepancies on the ground. And the Lions added two receivers in the April project: the choice of third round Isaac Teslaa and the seventh round Dominic Lovett, both which impressed in the camp.

Teslaa has a similar size to Patrick as a field threat, and Lovett could be active on the Gamedays because of its special team capacity.

“This is probably one of the most difficult training camps that I am there and for them to manage it as they manipulated, it is very encouraging and inspiring,” said Patrick. “It makes me want to go stronger because I was relaxing a little so they pick up my game.”

Patrick has enough familiarity with Morton, who was assistant in Denver in 2023 when he missed the season with a torn Achilles, that he should also help him find his niche in the offense. And he said that the lions are so talented that his work “to beat the number, what, four cornerbacks?” should be easy.

For the moment, however, he focused on the field on the field in the camp, so he is ready for the regular season.

“I have put a lot of work and I’m crazy that it doesn’t show at the moment,” he said. “But that will.”
