The former winger of Wales, Louis Rees-Zammit, returns to rugby after spending 18 months in the NFL.

Rees-Zammit signed an active contract with Jacksonville Jaguars for the 2025 season after being part of their training team for the 2024 season and went to London for the matches against the Chicago Bears and the New England Patriots in October.

The 24 -year -old made 32 appearances for Wales before announcing in January 2024 that he would retire from Rugby Union to continue his dream of playing in the NFL via his international players’ program.

But Rees-Zammit said in an article on Instagram: “I have an exciting announcement to do! I decided to leave the NFL and return to rugby!

“It was a great experience, but it’s time to go home. I decided that it was the best time to make this decision to give me time to put everything for next season.

“There is only one thing that concerns me, which comes back to rugby and does what I do best. I cannot explain how excited I am !!

“There will be more news to come soon, but for the moment, see you soon rugby fans.”

The news should be a welcome boost for the recently appointed head coach of Wales, Steve Tandy, who took over a team that ended only a sequence of 18 defeats that lasted almost two years with a hard victory over Japan last month.
