Charlotte, NC – The Fan Fest of the Carolina Panthers on Saturday evening ended on a touchdown with No. 26, but the fans may have reveified their programs, because there is no 26 on the Carolina offensive.
In other words, before a last minute addition to the team’s list before training, when they signed the 12-year-old quarterrier Jase Garland.
Garland, of Candler, courageously fights against myelodysplastic syndrome, a form of bone cancer.
His wish was to be a quarter’s quarter of a day for a day, so the team and Make-A-Wish were happy to grant his request.
Garland visited the stadium, ate spaghetti from the team leader and was able to spend time with the quarters.
“It was cool,” he said. “I must be there with all the quarters and speak with them.”
Jase was in a complete uniform, with a black visor and entered at the end of the practice, where Bryce Young welcomed it on the ground.
Then he ran for the walking touch.
“It was incredible,” said Jase’s mother. “None of us knew how big it was going to be for him. He will never forget.”
Head coach Dave Canales, who addressed the crowd of approximately 45,000 before training, said that Jase’s moment and all night consisted of connecting with fans who were unable to attend the training camp this year.
“It is our community of Greater Carolinas and the commitment of our guys to make it a better place to live,” said Canales. “Guys do not understand the impact they can have on people simply by spending a little time, seeing someone, taking a photo with someone, connecting with our fans base.”
Carolina continues the training camp on Tuesday morning before welcoming Cleveland Browns for joint training on Wednesday and an opening match of the pre-season on Friday.
