The former CAL botter, Ryan Coe, was lifted by the Buccaneers of Tampa Bay on Tuesday after obtaining chances during the first pre-season match of the Bucs.
Coe had a season from top to bottom in a year in Cal, and he experienced a performance from top to bottom in his only pre-season match for the BUCs.
Coe was on the field for seven special teams in the second half of Tampa Bay’s match against Tennessee Titans on Saturday. He started four times, tried a basket and tried two additional points.
He performed on six of the seven opportunities well, but it was the seventh that may be the reason why he is looking for another team.
He opened the second half with a kick -off that went to the 1 -meter of the titans line, and with the new rules of a kick, the kickers try to place the ball as close to the goals as possible without entering the goal area.
He then converted his first Goal attempt on the ground, a 36 yards.
His kick -off that followed went to the line of the 5 yards of the Titans, once again a fairly good placement.
Then came the harmful kick. Coe has missed an additional point on the right, and a guy trying to make the list as a free agent cannot afford to miss an additional point.
Coe launched the start that results in the line of the 3 yards of the Titans, another well -placed kick.
He had another chance to kick an additional point and did this one, and sent the kick-off ensuring the line of the 6 yards of the Titans.
He therefore had four good kicks and made a short field, but missed one of his two additional points.
Coe had similar problems of coherence at CAL. He scored four goals on the ground of 50 or more yards, including a 54 yards, but he missed four attempts at the field under 40 meters. Some of his failures cost Cal Games, and he was replaced halfway through the season by the recruit Derek Morris. Towards the end of the season, Coe attempted long goals on the ground and Morris was called for the shortest.
Coe had played for three other university teams – Delaware, Cincinnati and Caroline du Nord – before coming to Cal for its latest university seasons.
He has always shown a strong leg, so he could try to hang on with another NFL team, but his time with the Buccaneers ended.
