Green bay packers The quarter-Arrière Jordan Love could have played through his left thumb injury if it had happened during the regular season, but obtaining surgery and solving the problem now was his favorite path, so he would be 100% to open the season.
“With the time we have right now, by finishing the training camp and the pre-season, and in front of the season with the choice to enter the season 100% healthy, it was certainly the call I wanted to make,” said Love Thursday. “Make injuries last year, I wanted to go into this thing by feeling good.”

Love underwent an operation in Los Angeles on Tuesday. He said he was “on the road to recovery” and expected to train to a certain extent next week. The packers face the Lions of Detroit at the opening of the season on Sunday September 7, so Love will have almost four weeks of recovery between surgery and kick -off in the first match.
The injury occurred during the opening of the pre-season of the packers last Saturday evening. Love struck his left thumb on the helmet of a jet defender while taking a bag but “did not think too much” of the injury when it happened for the first time.
Love practiced on Monday as part of the “evaluation process”, but surgery determined by the thumb finally determined the best option.
“It was part of the debate,” said Love. “If it was in the middle of the season, would probably have been something on which we were not operated on. But with the fact that it was early and to have time to recover and be fully ready for week 1, the recommendation was surgery.”

Love was injured in the knee in the week 1 last year, which forced him to miss two games, and he then suffered a groin injury after his return. After a season if affected by the injury, Love did not want to start this one with an injury situation that he had time to repair.
The ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) is often injured in contact sports when the thumb is extended by hand. While Love is a right-of-law right-hander, an injury to the UCL in the thumb can affect the ability of a person to grasp objects, such as football, Per Cleveland Clinic.
LOVE said that the emphasis would be on thumb protection in the coming weeks, so there is no re-blue before week 1.
“We will be intelligent with that in the future,” said Love.
