With a choice of late 6 in the 2018 NFL draft, Wilson was selected by Dallas Cowboys. At the start of the training camp, Wilson underwent a torn labrum that would make him go in the end of the season injury reserve. During the following three seasons, he would see an increased role each year in an attack by Dallas led by the attacking coordinator Kellen Moore. He would not see much action in 2019 and 2020, but in 2021, 45 receptions for 602 yards and 6 affected. They would prove to be the best number of his career in the three categories.
Wilson signed with the Miami Dolphins During the 2022 offseason as a free agent. His speed should be part of Miami’s attack. It wouldn’t happen this way. Wilson had only 12 catches for 136 yards in 2022, then followed with 22 catches for 296 yards and 3 scores despite 15 competitions each season. He again struck the free agency in 2024, landing with the New Orleans. New Orleans receiving bodies was decimated from injuries last season, giving Wilson many opportunities to play an essential role in the offense. He responded with only 20 receptions for 211 yards and a score despite 15 action games, although he launched a pass of 21 yards.
Wilson found Moore in New Orleans this offseason, its offensive coordinator in Dallas. Doug Nussmeier, Cowboys staff, was also on Cowboys staff. Despite the links, Wilson had less impact in the training camp and the pre-season than with the saints in 2024. During three pre-season games, Wilson had 6 caught for 53 yards, with one of those who came to a broken coverage of 21 yards. When New Orleans finalized its initial 53 men, Wilson was among the five width Wideouts on Tuesday. It was perhaps because of the links and familiarity with Moore and Nussmeier, but if he remains on the list, he must provide much more than the non-factor that he was with New Orleans during his first year.
