Tampa Bay’s Buccaneers have one of the most talented offensive line players in the whole NFL with Tristan Wirfs anchoring the unit.
Although Wirfs is currently responsible for protecting the blind from Baker Mayfield – he did well, the product of Oklahoma having consecutive years of career – he was the first to protect Tom Brady.
While Brady wore a buccaneers jersey, Wirfs began his career and played right. At the time, the star of Tampa Bay was Starstruck, although he was not aware of the magnitude of the blockage for the best quarter of the history of the NFL.
Wirfs recently joined “The pivot“Podcast to talk about the opportunity to block so that Brady began his career as a professional football player.
“In a way Starstruck, to be honest,” said Wirfs on the show. “I remember taking camp with Shaq and [Jason Pierre-Paul] I just get arsonist and I said to myself: “I don’t know if I’m cut for that.” I said to myself: ‘I recovered Tom Brady there, I can’t. I can’t be that one.
“I remember [Brady] Pulled me to the side, he was like: “Don’t let yourself be beat quickly and don’t get beaten and we will go well.” And I said to myself, “It looks good, I can do that. In my head, it was like fighting your balls … being a recruit, I did not really understand the magnitude of it, like the size and size and size of a work to protect Tom. “”
Wirfs now protects Mayfield, which is much more mobile. He also made a change of position, although there is an anchor on the offensive line.
