Rockford, ill. (WTVO / WQRF) – Carlos Polk, from Rockford, is back with the Dallas Cowboys, the team with which he ended his NFL player career. Polk has recently been hired as an assistant coach of the special teams.

Polk was a special team assistant at Chicago Bears the last three seasons after being hired by Matt Eberflus. With Eberflus who left Chicago and Ben Johnson now in charge of the Bears, it was time for Polk to move on.

He would have interviewed for the position of special team coordinator with the Cowboys and their new head coach Brian Schottenheimer. This work went to Nick Sorensen. The cowboys then offered Polk the opportunity to work with Sorensen, and he took it.

Polk previously worked on NFL coaches staff with the loaders, the buccaneers and the jaguars.

Polk graduated from Rockford Guilford High School. He played the second dominant the opponents of Nic-9. He then played at the University of Nebraska. He was drafted by the loads in 2001. He played the secondary and shone special teams for them until 2007. He signed with the Cowboys in 2008 for his last season as a player.
