The two teams used the majority of their list with three quarters-rear seeing the field for each team. Team Gaithher had eight rushers to record a postponement and eight players had a reception. The Robinson team rushed to six players and 12 players took a catch.
“Just to share the ball, it’s the funny thing,” said Richardson. “You have all these game manufacturers that you are used to watching on a film as against our defense, the man that this receiver is really good, but now you are actually launching him so it’s incredible.”
It was no different in defense, because 20 players recorded a tackle for Team Gaither and 22 for Team Robinson.
The Gaithher team wore gold uniforms with red and black accents and black helmets while the Robinson team wore black uniforms with red and gold accents and white helmets.
The corner half of the saints Alontae Taylor and the legendary product of the saints and grams Greg Fassitt were present.
The Alcorn State fanfare, Sounds of Dyn-O-Mite, occurred at halftime.
After the performance of half-time, the Black College Football Hall of Fame of 2025 class was presented: Henry Dyer (State Grambling), Rashean Mathis (Bethune-Cookman), Jacquay Nunnally (Florida A & M), Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie ( Tennessee State), Jay “Sky” Walker (Howard), and coach Fred “Pop” Long (Wiley).
The black university football player of the year 2024, Jada Byrs of Virginia Union, was also recognized. He had eight races for 29 yards and a reception for 13 yards for the Gaithher team.
Fassitt said he was special for him as a native of New Orleans to see this game happening in his hometown. The Super Bowl champion said that the event ending his fourth year shows that he was in power.
“This means that there is a high -level commitment to the exhibition, opportunities and representation to give guys who come from historically black colleges and universities for a moment to really appear on a scene that did not exist” , he said.
