The Carolina Panthers go from the longtime second -time Shaq Thompson.
The panthers informed Thompson, who was to become a free agent without restriction, that they will not sign him.
Thompson should continue other options in free agency.
The 30 -year -old has been with the panthers for a decade, but has been limited to only six games in the past two seasons due to injuries. It was the first round of the team in 2014 and ranked fourth in the history of the team with 752 plated, behind Thomas Davis, Luke Kuechly and Mike Minter.
He played in the Super Bowl as a recruit in 2015 and was appointed team captain five times.

After posting a career summit of 135 plated in 2022, Thompson broke his ankle during week 2 of 2023 and was sidelined for the rest of the season. He returned last year, but torn his Achilles tendon during week 4, again prematurely.
Thompson, originally from Sacramento and former student of Grant Union High School, appeared in 123 games in 10 seasons with Carolina.
