With the NFL combine in the books, sights turn to free agency. Once the top names are off the market, all 32 teams could have a better inclination on which direction they’re selecting when on the clock in the 2025 NFL Draft.
For the Houston Texans, it’s a three-position race for the 25th overall pick entering the start of the new league year. Some think drafting an interior offensive lineman should be the priority since Houston’s 54 sacks allowed were the second-most in the NFL last season.
With Nico Collins being the only promising receiver under contract, some think adding a No. 2 pass-catcher should be the only move at No. 25. And then there’s the few who who think with both receiver and interior offensive line being loaded with potential, shoring up a long-term defensive tackle is the best course of action.
Texans Wire polled 47 mock drafts (including our own) to see which players are most commonly mocked with Houston’s first pick. There’s a scenario where the Texans trade back to receive more compensation, but most mocks have the two-time defensive AFC South champions standing pat and adding either a receiver, offensive guard or defensive tackle.
Alabama offensive lineman Tyler Booker remains the favorite should he be on the board, but Michigan defensive tackle Kenneth Grant has picked up steam in recent weeks. At receiver, a trio of targets continue to be in the running as replacements for All-Pro Stefon Diggs, who could be back on a short-term deal if all goes according to plan.
Based on the current projections, 73% of mocks have Houston targeting an offensive player. Nearly 25% have Houston selecting a defensive tackle. Then, there are a few who have the Texans adding either a safety or linebacker once they move down.
Houston currently owns six picks entering free agency. Here’s a round-up of the latest mock drafts and who they have landing off the board when the Texans are on the clock.
