At one point during the offseason, it seemed that the Pittsburgh Steelers would have no interest in the quarter-Arrière Aaron Rodgers, but many things have changed since then and now it seems that the two parties uniting forces are inevitable.
Early Monday, Adam Schefter d’Espn reported that Rodgers was indeed a legitimate option for the Steelers quarter-Arrière post after the previous reports suggested that Pittsburgh did not want to follow this path.
Now, not only is Rodgers a possible option for Steelers, but it seems to be the most likely option.
According to Mike Florio of Pro Football TalkRodgers and the Steelers could have an agreement in place on Tuesday. Florio adds that Rodgers prefers Steelers to his other first pretender, the New York Giants, due to the fact that he wants to play two more years and realizes that this might not happen in New York with head coach Brian Daboll and General Manager Joe Schoen both in the hot seat.
According to a source knowing the situation, the Steelers and Rodgers could have an agreement in place on Tuesday. He will not be able to sign before Wednesday, when the jets release him.
There is still a chance that the giants can pilot Rodgers. If they make him a much richer offer, he could skip the chance to stay in New York.
A big factor comes from the desire for Rodgers to play two more years. If he chooses the giants, and if the giants do not reach the playoffs in 2025, the co -owner John Mara could clean the house in 2026. A new GM and a new head coach could lead to the same decision as the New York team made this year – a decision to spend Rodgers.
The interest of steelers for Rodgers in certainly understandable given their desire to compete rather than exploding it in 2025. Some may not agree, but even at this stage of his career, we put money on Rodgers being an upgrade compared to the quarters of last year, Justin Fields and Russell Wilson.
Speaking of Wilson, his situation could be in limbo because of Rodgers. Wilson has been linked to the giants in rumors and is probably their rescue option if the future temple of fame goes to Pittsburgh.
