The Pittsburgh steelers have signed the defensive platform of the free agent Daniel Ekue, His agent announced via social media on Sunday evening.
Ekuale, 31, comes to the Steelers after spending the last four seasons with the New England Patriots. He was a full -time starter for the first time in his career in the NFL in 2024, starting 16 games for the Pats.
Ekue finished the 2024 season with 52 plated, two plated for the defeat, three shots of a quarter and a bag – by far the most productive season of his career in the NFL.
With the Patriots, he divided his representatives between three techniques and five techniques, which corresponds to the traditional role of the Desnive ends in the defense of the Steelers, and Ekuale could be considered a replacement for the starter recently released Larry Ogunjobi in the defensive rotation of the Steelers. The Steelers should also be active in the addition of defensive line players in the draft of the NFL 2025.
6 -foot 3 -inch and 310 pounds ekuale started its NFL with the Browns of Cleveland in 2018 as a free -drained agent of Washington’s state. He spent his full season recruited in the training team, before listing 53 men for the first time in 2019. He appeared in seven games for the Browns this season.
Ekuale was cut by the Browns in 2020 and joined the Jacksonville jaguars, where he made his first career bag while playing in nine games.
In 2021, the Jaguars released him and the Patriots signed him in their training team. He spent his first season in New England in the training team, but was raised to the list of 53 men eight times. After serving a suspension of two games to start the 2022 season, he played the 15 remaining games with the Patriots as part of a regular part of their defensive line rotation.
A torn biceps limited it to three games in 2023. Last season, Ekuale beat Jeremiah Pharms for a starting role and underlined his skills as a pass-Rush in the dispersion of his playing time. But the new Pats staff re-signed the young pharmms to a contract extension this offseason, allowing Ekuale to arrive on the free market.
