Last season was a disaster for New York Jets and the Rusher Edge Haason Reddick. Rather than dominating with the jets and securing a contract extension, the former star was held and fought on his return.
For this reason, the jets let him walk in a free agency and the 30-year-old signed a one-year agreement with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to join the ultra-aggressive defense of Todd Bowles.
Gary Devenport de Bleacher Report recently listed Reddick’s signature as the Moving the smartest offseason for Buccaneers.
“From 2020 to 2023, Reddick recorded at least 11 bags each season. But after keeping last season well with the New York Jets, Reddick finished with a single bag in 10 games,” wrote Davenport. “Not great in a contractual year. Now Reddick finds himself in Tampa on an agreement of $ 14 million in a year. Buccaneers really needed aid on the edge. They did not have a rusher on board hit the brand five boxes last season. Reddick should be very motivated to show that he still has something in the tank. And the nature of a year of the pact. And the one -year nature of the pact makes the risk for minimal Buccaneers.
Although Reddick recorded a single bag during the 2024 season, a large part of this can be contributed to its holdout and the absence of a training camp. Rather than being able to make things easier, Reddick was thrown into the wolves as a member of a defense he did not know.
But it was completely his fault to stand and get into this situation. Jets are a better team without the 30 year old rusher Edge and Reddick is much better elsewhere.
