The Buffalo Bills did not necessarily need a defensive tackle at the start of the 2025 draft.
This did not prevent them from taking the star of South Carolina TJ Sanders in the second round of the selection process. Sanders can provide immediate help to the Bowler Ed Oliver on the defensive side of the ball.

But don’t believe yourself.
The defensive coordinator of South Carolina, Clayton White, believes that Sanders will be a disturbing force which will precipitate the smuggler and will stop the race in the NFL.
“It’s a type of guy in the field. He is a dynamic playmaker when it comes to playing games in this position,” said White. “I think that this position is sometimes noted for guys who like to obstruct the gaps, to hold their gaps. He will do it, but in addition to this kind of thing, I think he will bring a game element to the defense of anyone. Obviously, Buffalo has had the chance to do it, but I think it adjusts their style and what they do in La Défense.”
Buffalo’s defense has been among the elite in recent years. Sanders will not change much for the Bills during their first season together.

In four seasons with the Bills, Sanders recorded 9.5 bags and 18 plated for the loss. He was one of the best racing pranks in the NFC, and the organization thinks they can get even later.
At the very least, Sanders should be an important cog in their defensive system.
