The Vikings coach who quietly hunted Jadeveon Clowney could finally get his shot

Before being cut by the Carolina Panthers on Thursday, the rusher on board of the pro Bowl Jadeveon Clowney was chased by the current defensive coordinator of Minnesota Vikings, Brian Flores.

In 2019, Flores was the Miami dolphins’ head coach, and he wanted his team trade For Clowney, who was a member of Houston’s Texans at the time. Unfortunately for Flores, the Dolphins could not resolve a profession to land the veteran rusher, and He was sent at Seattle Seahawks instead.

Now that Clowney is free to sign with any team, however, Flores wants the Vikings to try to add the old recovery choice n ° 1 to its current group of rushers of passes?

Would Jadeveon Clowney even be a good adjustment with the Vikings of Minnesota?

Despite the fact that Clowney has just been 32 years old in February, he could still perform at a high level during his last NFL seasons.

With the Carolina last year, its defensive classification PFF Global ranked 34th out of 119 rushers, and its victory rate of 14.9% would have classified second among all the defenders of Minnesota in 2024, behind the victory rate of Jonathan Greenard of 15.2.

So there is no doubt that Clowney can always be effective in the field. The problem with the Vikings is that they may not be able to give him the amount of shots next season he is looking for.

The Minnesota Rushers group already includes Greenard, Andrew Van Ginkel and Dallas Turner, and although Clowney is an incredible tool to use for Flores for his defense, he is probably not interested in being part of a passing rotation at this stage of his career.

But if there is an indication that he would really be willing to assume a more situational role, then the Vikings should do everything they can to get clowney in a purple and gold jersey before next season.
