The legend of Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Lavonte David, will be back in the Raymond James stadium next year, doing what he is doing best – wreaking havoc.
David is fifth of all time in career plated and has been reliable for this team since his arrival. Buccaneers continue to benefit from the regular presence of the secondary during his 14th season.
AARON SChatz d’Espn Named the veteran the most underestimated player on Tampa Bay’s list.

The Buccaneers have chosen to bring David back for another year. Their belief shows him how precious it is for defense. David’s ability to regularly make impact games in critical situations has relevant it well in the thirties. He was one of the most effective and most disruptive seconds of the game in modern NFL history.
Shatz noted David’s long -term excellence and its production continues last season.
“It could just as easily be a prize for success for life for one of the most underestimated players in the history of the NFL, but David still does it at the age of 35. He is the leader of all time (since 1991) in defeats, and David was still doing these big games last season (tied in fourth with 29 defeats).”
When it comes to defending the race, the instincts and the speed of David always give it an advantage.
“David carried out his average tackle after a gain of only 2.7 yards, which ranked sixth among the seconds outside the ball,” said Shattz.
Although its success coverage has shown certain improvement areas in 2024, David remains an essential element of the defensive unit:
“His only (relative) weakness was the pass coverage, where he had a coverage dvoa lower than the average and granted 7.7 yards per target. He is back to Tampa Bay for another season after having signed a one -year contract.”
David has work to do. Soon the pads will perform and David will lead Tampa Bay’s hunting party in the opening of the season in Atlanta.
