Washington commanders have done a good race during the 2024 season, which led to many just as good if not better results in 2025.
While the offense seems to be improved a lot after the commanders exchanged against the receiver Deebo Samuel and the offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil, the defense is the big question point, because many do not seem to see the vision that the director general Adam Peters has for this side of the ball.
The proof will come in the results, of course. But as Eric Edholm from NFL.com ranked the 10 most complete lists of the League, the concerns on one side of the ball have led him to leave Washington entirely, to his surprise.

“There is no perfect way to classify the best lists before the 2025 NFL season,” said Edholm. “But I thought it was imperative to go through the 32 teams, to note each position group, to weigh these units according to the importance of position and to see what the figures told me.
“The results surprised me at the start. … Commanders, who were a super bowl match last season, did not do my top 10.”
In addition to the snobbed commanders, the Los Angeles Rams who almost beaten the Eagles of Philadelphia winning Super Bowl, in the playoffs, were also disabled.
Edholm even says that he weighed much heavier quarters than any other position, but Washington has still not achieved the top 10. The 10th team on this list? It would be the Denver Broncos, led by the offensive recruit of the year of the NFL, the quarter-rear BO Nix. Their best receiver, Courtland Sutton, is not as much appreciated as Terry McLaurin for commanders. Proof of this can be found in their Professional football focus Classification – Spoiler – McLaurin is ranked 21 places higher than Sutton.
The tight wing of new Broncos, Evan Engram, would be published immediately if Denver could bring Zach Ertz. Their rear field has fascinating young talents like the RJ Harvey recruit, but either theirs is a push with the commanders or slightly lower due to the lack of proven potential.
The real separation arises in defense, and this is where it is difficult to make an argument. Pat Superain II is certainly more established than any Washington cornerback, especially until Marshon Lattimore can return in 2025 and return to Pro Bowl fit. And apart from the seconds Bobby Wagner and Frankie Luvu, there are simply not many proven products to chat with it.
Safety Quan Martin continues to be underestimated, but the new Safety of the Talanoa Hufanga Broncos is not itself.
However, if the past results brought weight in this ranking, the commanders would certainly land in the top 10, especially since the two teams they beat towards their match with the Eagles are currently classified inside.
Obviously, this is not what was done last year, but how Edholm sees the lists accumulate today. For Washington, it simply means another year of doubt, even if it is only by the one who builds the classification, and another opportunity to show why they should not be.
