The voluntary part of the Denver Broncos Denver Training Program is in books. Anything remains of the offseason is the compulsory mini-camp of this week and the summer of the NFL of six weeks.
Then, the crampons hit the grass again in Dove Valley for the training camp and we leave for the 2025 races. There is still a lot to glean in this team before arriving in the regular season, but what have we learned so far?
I shared my impressions Since the first week of the OTASo today, here are my biggest dishes to remember from the Voluntary Minicamp No. 2, which ended last Thursday.
Long before the OTAs, we heard signs of a free agent of the broncos how the presence of Nix made Denver an attractive landing place. The tight end of the remarks of Evan Engram Thursday only strengthened the amount of a recruitment lightning rod that Nix was for the Broncos.
During his flights to visit the Broncos and the Los Angeles Loaders in March, Engram turned on the film and watched Nix more carefully. The tight veteran was aware of the recruit production of Nix, including his start to the season rather difficult, but giving him a complete examination in an analysis of the film made Engram all the more intrigued by Denver.
When Engram landed in Denver for his free agent visit, Nix made sure that he was on site to greet the tight end, and the two had lunch together. Engram has always made this visit with the chargeers, but finally chose the Broncos because of Nix, the vision of Sean Payton for him and the global field, and the achievements of the team last season.
“I had lunch with him during my visit here. So he made a point of being here and meeting me,” Engram said Nix. “Even this lunch, I was able to listen to his process and things he works on. Just a really impressive young guy. As I said, the potential is through the roof, and I like to see myself as someone who can enter and help his development and bring this team to another level.”
Even the defensive veteran DJ Jones platform – which has a story of play with all the big signatures of Denver’s free agent – was reluctant to take a credit In broncos landing them. Instead, Jones highlighted what Broncos did last year, which is another way of saying: “Bo Nix”.
“I don’t think I had to do too much,” said Jones about the free agent recruitment process. “I think what we did last year said a lot.”
Including what Payton himself has said since the beginning of the OTA, the broncos are unified in their belief in Nix. The second-year quarter of a quarter is on the ascent, and it is difficult to find an alignment hole in Denver.
“Confidence, competitiveness, the desire to obtain after SEAN Sometimes, it is the BO team. He knows it. Everyone knows it ”, The right plates of broncos McGlinchey recently said The post denverTroy met. “And it is really cool to see him manage expectations. He does not give (BIP). He has such a talent to block everything that does not matter for him. I think that is what separates the big ones: simplifying your life to ensure that everything is going on to a single goal. The way he looked at the last two weeks, this child is really winning.”
2025 could be a very happy new year for broncos.
As a choice of seventh round last year, little expected that Vele even made the broncos list, and even less to become a starter. But he did both, transforming impressive and intensifying recruit work for Nix in critical situations, such as the third and the red zone.
While everyone wondered in the bottom of their mind if the choice of Pat Bryant’s draft was a blanket against the prolongation talks of Courtland Sutton, which was not rushed, Vele has become the most immediate possibility. Vele was one of the few players to really bring out and stand out in the OTA contactless / No-PADS format.
Vele looked like a receiver that capitalized on all the experience he obtained as a recruit and invested in his own growth and development during the offseason. According to all accounts, he looks different, and the implications are exciting for this broncos offense.
After all, we may not know with certainty what the future has in store for us beyond 2025, but it is under contract, and the broncos aligning two bogged play leaders of X and Z spots could lead to fireworks, with Nix lighting the fuse.
Given the age of Vele when he entered the NFL (remember, he served a two-year LDS mission before playing at the University of Utah), the 27-year-old was always going to develop quickly in order to capitalize on his opportunity. So far, so good.
Mims finally found a base in the Broncos offensive. It took him a season and a half, but he became a full weapon in the Payton arsenal at the end of last year.
Thanks to what Payton calls “the demonstrated capacity”, the confidence of Mims is at a record level. This augurs very well in the hope that Mims can translate his offensive explosion from the end of the season to 2025 production.
“I have already told you. Confidence is born from the demonstrated capacity”, ” Payton said Thursday. “The athletes grow right before your eyes. It started not only at the end of the season. It started at the start of the middle [of the] season. You can see it and certainly feel it now.
Mims was a Pro Bowl / All-Pro returner for the second consecutive year, but 2025 could be the year he won these distinctions as a real real receiver.
Although we do not yet know with certainty if the broncos plan to play their choice from the first round outside or in the slit, a secondary option has been excluded: security.
Payton confirmed The fact that Barron plays security is not his “vision” for the reigning winner of the Jim Thorpe Award, a distinction given to the best defensive back of the country each year. Whether it is the border or the nickel, Barron always has board to win a role in this defense day 1, because Riley Moss and Ja’quan McMillian are not exactly chopped liver.
So far, however, the first yields on Barron have been exactly what you hope to see in a first recruit round.
If the Broncos were to go to war tomorrow, they would probably be comfortable with RJ Harvey, Audric Estime and Jaleel McLaughlin as their three active runners. But something is missing in the running back-back runner, and that’s the experience.
The broncos brought the chargeers by JK Dobbins for a visit Thursday, although it left without signing a contract. This does not mean that broncos will not sign it yet, but they are at least curious enough to invite him to have an appearance, perhaps, with his medicals as an impulse.
“Another good football player that we saw first -hand”, ” Payton said Dobbins. “We really like the group right now with whom we are working. It’s just another opportunity to bring another good football player to help us win.”
Dobbins has a serious injury jacket and missed four games last year at the, he almost overshadowed 1,000 yards on the ground in 13 games. Although it is not a polished receiver in the back field, it is an experienced runner and can skill the protective tasks against passes.
