4. Williams ready for a huge season
We all know how good Williams is as a deep threat. It has an average of 17.3 yards per reception last season – second in the NFL – and had five receptions of 50 yards and more. We can count on the one hand the players of this league as quickly as Williams.
We have seen some of these deep connections in OTA practices, but what impressed me more was the creation of Williams games in the short and intermediaries of the field. His ability to set foot in the ground and create space on a return. Its ability to sail in the middle of the field on short crosses to create space. Before his fourth season, Williams seems to be the entire wide receiver, and this could have huge implications for the Lions offensive.
5. Kiss the calendar
Lions could be a better football team in 2025 as in 2024 and not win as many matches. It’s just the reality to have the second most difficult calendar in football this season depending on the percentage of opposing victory.
It is a glove with road games in Philadelphia, Baltimore, Kansas City, Washington, Cincinnati and Los Angeles (RAMS) in addition to two games each with Minnesota, Green Bay and a Chicago team that could be very improved in 2025.
All the players I have talked about in the past two weeks love it. Especially the five games in prime time and the 11 television games at the national level. The calendar is what it is, and the players and coaches really seem to adopt it and use it as a way to better prepare for football in the playoffs, where they have released in the playoff series in the NFC championship and the divisional tour in the last two seasons.
“I am not worried about the calendar,” said Campbell. “I think it’s perfect. I think it aligns perfectly. I think it will be what is best for us where we are going in 2025. My fifth year here, the heart of the fifth year of this team. I really think that is exactly what we are going to need. The timing is perfect.
“I mean, for me, at the end of the year, we must be marked, you know. We should be marked and ready to leave, hardened for battle and ready for the playoffs.”
