The leadership and the voice of Daron Payne reshape the defense of commanders

Payne’s voice increases while the defensive line of commanders again takes shape around him.

Ashburn, go. – While the recipient Terry McLaurin is the most spoken player in attack, the defensive platform of the commanders of Washington Daron Payne takes this place in defense due to the praise of several coaches during the OTA.

This is due to the solid commentary of the defensive coordinator Joe Whitt Jr. on the defensive tackle of the commanders, which has been the subject of commercial speculation all the offseason.

“The guy who, for me, looks really good, he looks intentional,” said Whitt about Payne, who is entering his eighth season with Washington this year.

Payne’s compliment by Whitt and his presence in the team alone smothered any speculative baggage which, according to the coach, has never been deserved in the first place. All the enthusiasts must be stifled beyond the comments of the comments of the Darryl Tapp defensive line coach, shared in a head-to-head interview with John Doran from Wusa9.

“It is vocal, but it is not strong to be heard. When he speaks, guys listen – because they see how he works.”

Daron Payne’s evolution as a leader

The thing about the veteran tackle and his public character is that he varies from his private. Even by admitting that he can be calm, Whitt recognized in his comments that “he leads the example and this year, you can really see him play this leadership role and pass it to the next stage”.

TAPP may have Payne in its meeting rooms, generally a more intimate environment with smaller crowds and a narrower range to exist. For him, this “new” Payne, for many of us, is the same guy he learned during his first year as coach of the defensive line of commanders.

“Well, Daron is the alpha male in the room. Daron has always been a leader. Let’s not do this.

Payne playing a vocal role in 2025

The thing has the idea of leading by doing is that it only works on those looking for an example of how to do it properly. Some need a more initial approach. They need someone who will obviously say: “You or we do it badly, and here is how we improve.

It is in this leadership path that TAPP says that Payne has increased this offseason.

“He makes corrections to the guys before he even had a chance to do so,” says Tapp. Something that has just had a full year to his credit under Whitt, TAPP, and the assistant coaches Ryan Kerrigan and Sharif Floyd, and understand how he is in their vision.

TAPP says that comfort and familiarity have released him and that freedom leads him to become the player they thought they could be, even last year, when he led all defensive line players in snaps.

Payne’s impact on the line of new looks commanders

For Payne, he says that it is a simple approach that he must be a leader.

“I’m just trying to show young boys how to do it by doing it simply,” he says.

But then, it is the usual smaller and more reserved version of the reader to whom we are used to.

According to her coaches, her voice is heard behind the scenes, where she can have the most influence on her teammates, where it matters most. Many of these teammates are new this year, or start new roles, and they will benefit from a veteran who is on solid land, helping them to do the same.

“We wanted to become bigger and longer … The vision of the way we want to play and how we want to be and what we want to look at, you see more at the moment from the point of view of size and length and speed,” said Whitt about his current defensive group.

Defensive line player Javon Kinlaw should be used in various ways and is “a great violent guy”, according to TAPP.

The veteran Deatrich Wise Jr. brings a championship experience with him of the organization of the Patriots of New England, as well as “large, long, athletic, coarse … all that precedes”, once again, according to TAPP.

At the end of the day, Whitt says: “We will be larger in the first and second stockings. And we will be larger against 12 people … We can make ourselves with (opposing offenses). ”

At a time when most of the operational impacts cannot be quantified, Payne’s influence is at least testified by his coaches, and it is an excellent sign for the future of a veteran who spent the months outside if he would be the next ship.

It turns out that not only does it seem that it does not go anywhere, it could end up being one of the most important contributors to success in Washington this year, on the statistics sheet and outside.

To find out more about this, and all the subjects of the Washington commanders, listen daily to Wusa9 and the Podcast Locked on commanders.
