Baltimore coach Ravens gushes into the recruit defender

The production of prolific bags and explosive athletics have made the outside secondary of Baltimore Ravens, Mike Green, one of the best rated defensive perspectives of the NFL 2025 draft. He led the FBS with a career summit of 17 bags and was appointed a first all American selection team during his last year in competition at the University of Marshall.

However, looking at his cassette during the pre-project process, the first attribute trait that jumped from the film in the eyes of Ravens Pass Rush, Chuck Smith, was his incessant effort.

“A guy who runs to the ball and if you watched it here, Mike Green runs to the ball. Each game and you don’t have to train it on this subject,” said Smith on the last day of organized team activities on this last day. “This is one of the best things. When you become pro, you shouldn’t have to train the effort.”

“The first thing I saw with @ Mikegreen42021 is an effort … it is skillful. The rush coach to the Chuck Smith Pass pic.twitter.com/3fwui8jjvm

Green’s non-stop engine was one of the many key intangible assets Smith spoke when he was talking about the choice of the second round of the Ravens on the podium. He also praised his high football IQ when it comes to updating himself with the defensive scheme and admires that he has not only the desire to learn, but an eagerness to absorb as much knowledge as he can.

“He is coachable,” said Smith. “He wants to learn, he is there to ask questions with [outside linebackers coach] Matt (Robinson) and [defensive line coach] Dennis (Johnson) when we are all combined with regard to a defensive front when we are completely in the room. »»

In practice, Smith said that Green never refuses a representative during individual or team exercises and that even if the pads have not yet arrived, the “heavy hands” with which he plays are always perceptible.

“He gets his hands on the guys [and] He shows that he has the ability to hit blocks, “said Smith.” Regarding Mike everything we asked, he does. “”

From the point of view of the pass, Green already has enormous skills, refinement and plethora of movements that Smith attributes to the player himself as well as the coaching he obtained in the two colleges he played with the University of Virginia and Marshall.

“Mike can cross-chop; Mike can turn; Mike can ghost,” said Smith. “But from this point of view, Mike is the best example of this new generation which has learned pros, and it is already very very qualified.”

Not only is Green’s explosive in the first step, but its ability to avoid false steps has also “surprised” its coaches.

“He quickly climbs on the ball,” said Smith. “So, I can’t say enough about Mike so far. Now we are putting the pads … The Mike Green that we have seen so far is everything we thought it would be when we decided to write it.”

Even if he could not really free his complete skills as a rusher of passes during the OTAs when the players do not carry buffers and the complete contact is prohibited, that did not prevent the green from playing in practice. According to reports from the media members present during Tuesday training, he intercepted a pass intended for a tight end Isaiah, probably the quarter of the backup, Cooper Rush while being covered.

If he can bring more value than being a deadly rusher of deadly pass, it will be difficult for the Ravens to keep the recruit gifted out of the field despite his loading in the position which includes a pair of veterans players who recorded 10 bags or more last season.
