Akers will only be 26 years old on June 22, but will be with its fourth team in the past three years. Last with the Texans of Houston and the Vikings of Minnesota in 2024, he received a minicamp test by the saints this week before concluding an agreement with the team.

Here is what Athlon Sports wrote on Akers earlier this week at the news of his test with New Orleans.

“ Selection of the 2nd All-ECC team with the Florida State Seminoles, Akers was a second round choice by the Rams of Los Angeles in the draft of the NFL 2020. By sharing Backfield shots with Darrell Henderson as a recruit, Akers has always led the Rams with 625 yards as a recovery.

An Achilles injury limited Akers to a single regular season match in 2021. However, he returned to the playoffs. It would represent 248 melee yards through the playoffs on the way to the LVI Rams Super Bowl championship.

Akers rebounded to direct the Rams with 786 yards on the ground and 7 affected in 2022. At the start of the 2023 campaign, Los Angeles would exchange Akers with the Vikings du Minnesota. In six games with Minnesota, Akers had only 138 yards on the ground before being placed on injured reserve.

“The Texans of Houston signed Akers during the free agency of 2024. He would only collect 147 yards on the ground in five games for Houston before being exchanged again. Akers was handed over to Minnesota, where he ran for 297 yards in the last 12 games.

During his NFL five -year career, Akers rushed to 2,025 yards while making an average of 4 yards per race and according to 13 affected. He added 52 receptions for 388 yards and 4 additional scores.

At 5’10 “and 217 lbs., Akers has good power between the plated with a break in rupture. However, it was slowed down by injuries and has never been able to obtain a role of rear field in the spotlight despite several chances. ”

New Orleans has not signed Cam Akers to be a star back. Instead, he will compete to be a rear field complement to Alvin Kamara for a team of saints who desperately lacked such a weapon in recent years.

Akers has inner power, proven production and has shown that bursting earlier in his career is effective in this role. However, he will face competition to resuscitate his professional career.

Akers will have to repel the challenges of veterans colleagues Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Kendre Miller often injured. In addition, the saints also used a sixth round choice on the Kansas RB Devin Neal, added a recruited not recovered in the wires of the RB Marcus Delaware and signed Velententi Polyvalent Vélus Jones.
