Cincinnati – One day after having signed his recruit contract, the defensive winger of the Bengals of Cincinnati, Shemar Stewart, took the ground for his first NFL training on Sunday.

While Stewart was the last choice of recovery of Bengals to sign and criticize the property during the negotiations, coach Zac Taylor said that the organization can leave all this assertion in the past.

“It’s part of being a professional,” said Taylor. “Put it behind you.” It is part of our team, so we support it at each stage of the path now. You just put it all behind. ”

Stewart missed three workouts before signing his recruit contract, and he also participated in the Bengal Spring Training.

On Sunday, he crossed additional sets of exercises with an individual instruction from the defensive line coach Jerry Montgomery, participated in position exercises, then received approximately 10 repetitions in full exercises against the first team offense.

“I just needed to get on the ground as soon as possible,” said Stewart. “I needed to start learning, to improve. There is a long season to come. I needed to be ready. “

He said he had no regrets on the negotiation process. Stewart also defended his agent, Zac Hiller.

The Director of Bengals for Players Staff, Duke Tobin, criticized Hiller last week by saying that Stewart listened to the advice he paid for. Stewart said he appreciated Hiller’s approach in negotiations.

Stewart’s four -year agreement is worth $ 18.97 million guaranteed, including a signing bonus of $ 10.4 million.

Stewart, the 17th choice in total in the April draft, and Hiller finally accepted the provision of Bengals in cancellation of future guarantees if there are incidents out of scope or damage prejudicial to the team.

However, he received $ 500,000 more from his signature bonus now instead of later in the season.

“I want an agent plus a pit bull,” said Stewart. “I don’t want an agent who can easily be rejected. I want someone who will wage war (for), so I don’t have to do the hard work behind the scenes. In terms of this, I think ZAC is an excellent agent. He manages business very well. It’s my dog for life. “

On the ground, Stewart had trouble with the heat as well as the new techniques of the staff of Bengal coaches.

At one point during training, he poured water over his eyes only to discover that it was Gatorade. Who stung his eyes, and he joked that it was a moment of learning.

During his first training representative against attacking lines, he was postponed and turned around. It was another moment of learning.

“Just take it out here and move it forward with our fundamental principles and with Jerry and all the things we teach,” said Taylor. “Tomorrow, we are fortunate to put the pads, to have the chance to feel what it is still. It’s just good to go at full speed with him.”

Stewart said he hoped this week was the start of a long Bengal career, and he focused on the long game now that his contract was signed.

“It was never me against anyone,” said Stewart. “We just didn’t travel.
