Unity twp., Pa. – It’s been a while since the Pittsburgh steelers attack Troy Faetanu tied on his shoulders.
Fautanu underwent a knee injury at the end of the season last September, and although it has been allowed for some time now, Wednesday was the first day of return to the pads since the injury that destroyed its recruited season.

As a beautiful easy transition to padded football, head coach Mike Tomlin had a nice return gift for the second-year product of Washington: solo representatives against TJ Watt.
On the first day of the pads, the steelers did most of their familiar exercises in padded practices, including team racing periods and sprinkled backs on heads on donors and an offensive line player compared to defensive line editors.
In this last exercise, Fauatanu led things, taking the first two representatives against Watt.
“You really don’t know what to expect,” he said. “For me, I just have to make sure that I take the right together and that I don’t fight because he’s going to take everything you give him.

Fautanu may have deflected the credit, but he obtained solid victories in each of these representatives.
“I thought he was good today,” said head coach Mike Tomlin. “He really has the opportunity to improve and improve quickly because of whom he can work every day.”
Fautanu said that knee injury is physically behind him – he only wore a small protective round above him on Wednesday – but he needs to mentally return to this leg to anchor his movements after being so careful with this in the past year.
“I just trust my anchor, I suppose,” he said. “Knowing that I have anchor to sit on Bull (Rushs). Not just to get started and do things like that.”

If that’s all that Fautanu has to walk around, after Stonedalling the most dangerous went from the League, he will do very well this season.

The day was not so kind to the Steelers ball carrier, Kaleb Johnson, whose first day in the pads was largely forgetful. Johnson was stopped short of the goal line in seven shots, had a hard blow on the back on donors and even had a rare escape during a team management period.
On the back on donors, Johnson attracted Malik Harrison as a very difficult assignment, and the big n ° 50 overthrew him for two of the three representatives. The second, Johnson was able to stand a little ground, but could have been reported for the outfit. Later, he got a shot from the redemption against his colleague recruit Carson Bruener, and also lost this representative.

The exercise is not supposed to be fair, the situation strongly tilted in the defense. But Jaylen Warren’s standard in this region has been impressive, and if Johnson wants to overthrow him and Kenneth Gainwell in situations of passage, he will have to learn to add better techniques and approach to the size and physicity he already has.
Adapt completely

Of course, when it was a difficult day for Johnson, Harrison seems to adapt to the Steelers. The powerful secondary school could not really show his game a lot without the pads coming, but he and his hard -hitting colleague Mark Robinson were the stars of the show on Wednesday.

Harrison beat Johnson, while Mark Robinson Walloped Evan Hull in his two representatives against the newcomer. The Steelers second room is not lacking in physics.
“It’s a competitive exercise, so you are right there and do what I do,” said Harrison. “There should not be a back that can block me, especially with my size and how physical I am.

On the other side of the ball, two Pass-Rushers of the Recruit Steelers had a hard blow on the first day with pads. The outdoor secondary recruits Jack Sawyer and the defensive platform Yahya Black are great players strong for their positions. Nor do they necessarily have the most advanced sets of Pass-Rush movements. He was shown on Wednesday.

Sawyer exchanged representatives with the tight recruit JJ Galbreath in files in a match he should probably win. Along the line, Black fought Doug Nester in a series with three representatives that the product of Virginie-Western has grown strongly.
Even among the unrelated blockers, a strong player without an elite plan will not go very far. We will see how the black and the Sawyer are progressing while the training camp and the pre-season continue.
Old block stroke

Two years ago, the Steelers’ corner half of the time, Joey Porter Jr. came to the training camp and fought powerfully with his tackle. Given his father, the Steelers Hall of Honor inducted, the outside secondary Joey Porter Sr., and the fact that the young porter is a large 6 feet 2 inches, 195 pounds for a cornerback, it could have surprised. But the platinum was one of the few areas on which wearing had a lot to work when it came out of Penn State.

Quick advance until 2025, and Porter absolutely illuminated Johnson on more than one racing game, resembling much more to his old man than to the player we saw here two years ago.
“It’s good to see,” said Tomlin. “You know, it’s just a day’s sample. For me, it is a question of setting up good consecutive days and displaying consistency. ”
