Good fences make good neighbors The poet Robert Frost wroteAnd sometimes good neighbors make good fences.

This is the case along the Lombardi avenue, directly north of Lambeau Field, where four owners are all on the underlying Green bay packers Fandom.

Since the original idea of Steve Kraft in 1984 to paint his fence at 1177 Shadow Lane, the fences of the packers are part of the Green Bay football culture. “I like driving there and thinking:” Definitely, I started it all “,” said Kraft. “It’s good. It’s funny to think and talk.”

In 1984, Kraft had a real closing of piquets on the side of the Lombardi avenue of his property, with spaces between the advice, as opposed to the four current fences of packers providing solid backgrounds for their wall paintings. He wondered if letters painted on his fence facing the Field flap could be read.

It turns out that they could, and “welcome again, Forrest”, a reference to the packers hiring the old Tack forrest Gregg as a coach, was the very first message.

The themes of fence reflect the current circumstances of the packages, such as a new quarter-rear, a talented list of receivers or the NFL 2025 draft. Creative words and puns are often used.

The fences are normally repainted before the start of the regular season. However, this year, three fences were repainted the week before the draft, at 1167 Shadow Lane, 1219 Shadow Lane and 1267 Shadow Lane.

Here are a little more on the four fences:

Christopher Handler paints the fence at 1167 Shadow Lane on April 11 in Green Bay celebrating the NFL 2025 draft at Lambeau Field.

    Owner: John Kaul, Richland Center

    Artist: Christopher manager

2024 Slogan: “Guaranteed speed. Reed all about this”

2025 Draft Slogan: “Draft Day the Titletown Way.”

History: Kaul Enterprises of Richland CenterA family restaurant and a hotel business, has the house at 1167 Shadow Lane and rents it for games and events. The Kaul family also uses it too. The company has rental properties in Florida and Wisconsin, as well as the possession of restaurants through the State.

“It’s such a unique thing. It’s a Midwest thing,” said John Kaul about packers.

Kaul, a fan of “crazy” packers always – “When it’s a big game, I can barely watch it” – bought the house a long time ago, but started to have the fence painted only three years ago, when it was approached by Handler, who, over 27, painted four different fences along the street.

“We bought the house when it was easier to buy the houses because the packers lost all the time,” said Kaul.

He and his wife were driving through Green Bay and saw the house on sale in front of the Field flap. They stopped to look at him, and when he noticed through the bathroom window, he could see the lambeau Field dashboard, he knew he had to agree.

The rear courtyard of the house includes wooden cutouts from packer players, which are changed from year to year.

Matt Pecard de Green Bay tackles the fence of newly painted packers at 1177 Shadow Lane on September 2, 2024 in Green Bay. The closing of original packers is 40 years old.

    Owner: Dorothy Harrsch

2024 Slogan: “Dream project on Murphy’s lawn”

History: Finally, Kraft’s stake fence was replaced by a solid fence, and Kraft of Frederick Harrsch as owner of the property. Harrsch moved to Green Bay from New Jersey to be closer to packers and maintained the tradition. Christopher Handler painted the fence for many years before switching to other fences on Shadow Lane. Harrsch died in 2022 At 81 years old. His sister-in-law, Dorothy Harrsch, who now has the property, maintains the tradition of fence painting with his son, Peter.

The theme and appearance of the fence are intentionally simple. Bruce Kiel, who described the text on the fence in front of the Field flap for a decade, said that he had asked Fred Harrsch before he wanted if he wanted a fence with more sophisticated works of art. “He said,” No, it’s supposed to be like that “,” said Kiel.

Friends and neighbors, and even the president and chief executive officer of the Packers, Mark Murphy, helped to paint the fence in the fall before the start of the football season.

The fence was appointed a historic site of the city of Green Bay.

The Packers fence at 1219 Shadow Lane, illustrated on April 19 in Green Bay, was repainted for the NFL 2025 draft at Lambeau Field.

2025 Draft Slogan: “Welcome to Lambeau (we hope a bit that everyone’s choices are stinking)”

History: Spencer Young of Designs forever youngShiacton, designed his 11th fence in 10 seasons. He made an additional one for the Wisconsin-LSU match in 2016. Cheesehead TV, owner of the house next door, is a sponsor of the fence.

The closure 2024 included paintings from eight packers receptors, hence the theme “Rollin ‘Deep”. The theme of the 2025 project hosts fans with Field lambeau and offers a small SASS to fans of the other 31 teams.

The fence over the years has favored more than packers. He favored autism awareness in 2013 and 2023 recognized a well -known packer song, “I love my green bay packers.”

Young, a former St. Norbert College football player, also designed and painted the fence at 1069 Shadow Lane, east of Lambeau Field, who has a theme of Wisconsin rather than packers.

The artist Zane Statz painted the closing of the packers at the 1267 Shadow Lane for the draft of the NFL 2025 on April 19 in Green Bay.
