On Saturday, the head coach of Washington commanders, Dan Quinn, sat before training camp n ° 8 to address the media as he still does, but this time, he had a message to share.
Leaving the heels of the DC council vote to approve the agreement which will bring the commanders back to the site of the old RFK stadium, the message of Quinn was that of the gratitude and the understanding of the situation as a whole.
“Before riding, I thought I was crying quickly to (Washington director) Josh Harris and his team,” said Quinn. “So much gratitude on the strength of their commitment to the team now and for the future. Do what was necessary to secure their next critical step in the road to RFK and how many means for the team, the community. And it is really cool. I was therefore super pumped for him and for all the members and the limited partners who are with him, a lot of gratitude for the strength of this support for us.”
Harris had a heavy burden to wear when he became the leader of a property group who not only bought the commanders’ franchise in 2023, but undertook to resuscitate the formerly proud organization.
One thing he decided to do very early was to reconnect Washington with his past, including a return to RFK. The importance of this decision, recognized Quinn on Saturday, is “really a big problem”.
If everything goes well, Quinn will be able to train the first match played in the new stadium, the one who is promised to honor the history of the stadium and the native namesake, in one way or another.
“I always have a real appreciation for the people who put the work and, obviously, it takes a lot of work to do it. I would like to have been a coach at RFK. I did not do it, but I saw it a lot and as a member of this organization, DMV. And therefore for all the old Redskins, commanders, everyone, as there is this energy on this subject.”
“I know that these guys worked incredibly hard, guy,” also said Quinn. “These are a lot of major steps that they are assessing … I am thinking of the work that is happening right now and the type of attitude necessary to get up and fight for what you want.”
Currently, the news represents an idea of what could be, and Quinn focuses on what is, leaving the idea of who will be the team’s coach when the stadium opens on the future where it belongs.
Nowadays, however, the future is now firmly linked to the past, and every day that passes, every week that a game is played, and each season that opens and closes, it seems that Washington is a little closer to go home.
