It is certainly time for the lions to add another quarter Originally appeared on Sports Athlon.
The pre-season of the NFL 2025 did not take a good start for the Lions of Detroit.
They were dominated by Los Angeles in charge of a 34-7 match in the Hall of Fame match.

The result itself is not a huge affair. The Hall of Fame game is only an additional exhibition game and the Lions did not play a large part of the guys who will be on the list of week 1.
However, there were things we saw on the ground that were disturbing.
One of the greatest was the Lions game at the quarter-Arrière post.
None of the QB who entered this match for the Lions particularly well moved the ball.

Kyle Allen went 9/14 for 91 yards with an exhausting pair of interceptions. The first installed the loads for their second hit in the match. The other came deep in the territory of the loaders to put an end to one of the only reasons of the Lions where they have had some success.

Hendon Hooker did not have as much time as Allen, but does not seem much better either. He carried out three of the six passing attempts for 18 yards and launched an interception which was not really his fault.
I would once again like to emphasize that you cannot withdraw as much of this kind of games, but if you are the lions, you cannot feel good in what you have available behind Jared Goff.
Even if they hope that one of these two is actually good enough to be their backup QB, it’s time to do more competition.

They can’t wait to see if these two are bad next week again. The more they wait, the less time there is any other QB than they will have to learn the game book before the start of the season and the less likely they are to see this QB in pre-season before deciding their safeguard.
There are not a ton of options, but there are viable options.
The first is Carson Wentz. It is an idea that has been mentioned recently and its experience and a few years with the highest offenses could make it a good choice.

Joe Flacco could also be a possibility. The Browns will have to go from one of their four QBs and it is he who makes the least sense on their list at the moment.
Jameis Winston would also make sense, but for any reason would have did so almost untouchable.
Chiefs will probably not keep Bailey Zappe and Gardner Minshew, so one or the other could be an option.
Perhaps the charges would be open to the negotiation of Trey Lance. He is currently third on their depth painting, but played well last night and was much more upwards than Hooker at 25.

However, they decide to deal with the situation, the Lions must have a better option to turn to the case that last night is really revealing what their backup QB have to offer. Otherwise, they will play catching up at the start of the season in the worst position to potentially do it.
