DC commanders Joe Whitt Jr. share its new motto for 2025 and explains how the empowerment of its staff will unlock the full potential of defense.
Ashburn, Virginie – Coach Matters, and the head coach of Washington commanders, Dan Quinn, told us that he and all his staff spent part of the offseason improving and improved.
After all, coach staff who are not willing to improve cannot ask the list of commanders to do so when it reports off-season, right?
The defensive coordinator Joe Whitt Jr. is one of the coaches who spent part of the off -season to improve, and he told us on Monday that he had a new approach to the way he was doing his job for Washington in 2025.
“Do what is good, don’t be well ‘
“My motto, and I have it on my painting right now, it’s” do what is good, is not necessarily fine, “explains Whitt.
The idea is to get out of your own path, and in some cases, to move away from the progress of the team.
It can sometimes be difficult for coaches to let go a little and understand that their path may not be the best way. After all, we are all humans and all humans have ego. The trick is not to let it become the engine of efforts that have an impact on the group, not just the coach.
Empower coach staff
On the surface, it starts by trusting his coaches to do their job while Quinn trusts him to make his own.
“Allow the coaches just to train, get out of the way … and allow them to go,” says Whitt. It seems simple, but it can be difficult.
Remember that coach Whitt has progressed in the same avenues in which his assistants are currently. It is natural to want to lend a hand and put them on the right base.
Recognizing what makes him feel the most in control may not lead to the best result, but it is a harsh truth to grasp, one that is not satisfied with itself and its coaches, but also of its players.
Unlock the potential of players
“I don’t think I have done a job well enough in certain spaces with [LB] Franc [Luvu] And [safety] Jeremy [Reaves]”, Shared Whitt in a frank moment during the interview.” We have made good jobs, but all of the 11 years old, I have to do a better job to use people’s skills. “
The best way to do so is to collect critical information from renowned sources. And Whitt’s defensive personnel coaches are about as deemed as possible when it comes to knowing the forces of each unit and players inside.
What Whitt does comes down to priorities. When everything is a priority, nothing is, right? So Whitt allows certain priorities to belong to others to which he has confidence to do the best job, and from there, his priority may be to take advantage of all this work and build the defense of commanders in a unit that everyone in Bordeaux and gold can be proud.
