Anthony Richardson of the Colts in competition with Daniel Jones for the departure place

The quarter of the Indianapolis colts, Anthony Richardson, discusses the competition with Daniel Jones for the starter.

The training camps are in full swing through the NFL. The teams resume their depth cards and perform alignment movements to descend to 53 active players when the regular season takes place.

THE Foal come in the third year with coach Shane Stechen and the quarter-tree Anthony RichardsonWho the team selected n ° 4 in total in the draft of the NFL 2023. Richardson only played 15 games in his first two seasons and went 8-7 as a starter.

This offseason, Indianapolis has signed the Vétéran Daniel Jones quarterrier to provide a certain depth to this initial experience. Given the history of Richardson’s injuries, having Jones in the building could help keep the team afloat if it lacks time.

But Indianapolis made the curious decision not to engage in a QB1 in their first depth announcement of the training camp. Instead, they List the quarter-tree leaving as Richardson or Jones.

“The two have done a very good job”, ” Steichen said earlier this week. “The two have made games at a high level in the past few days, and that’s what you want to see. You want to see the growth, you want to see the completions, you want to see the offensive go up and down the ground.”

Steichen did not indicate in which direction he leaned for the starter in the opening of the pre-season of the colts against the Baltimore Ravens On the road. He said Richardson and Jones will see time but did not specify who will be under the center to start the game.

Even then, Steichen clearly indicated that the competition was far from being decided.

“They will play a good amount,” said Steichen. “I mean, we will play a good part of this game, and the next one will probably play a good part of the next game.”

Riley Leonardthe choice of colts in sixth round (n ° 189 in total) in the NFL 2025 draftis behind Richardson and Jones on the depth board like QB2. Former free free agent Bean jason completes the depth table.
