Nick Herbig was destructive in Week 3, but is anyone really surprised?

Pittsburgh Steelers Nick Herbig was dominant on the right edge in Week 3. Herbig entered late in the first half to relieve Alex Highsmith, who suffered a groin injury against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Some viewers of the Week 3 game may not fully understand just how destructive Nick Herbig was in the Week 3 win: 2 sacks, a forced fumble and three quarterback pressures on just 8 pass-rush snaps.

That shouldn’t come as a surprise to Steelers fans, though, as he’s been just as dominant in the preseason: 3.5 sacks, one forced fumble and six quarterback pressures on 22 pass-rush snaps over three preseason games.

TJ Watt also seems to understand that Nick Herbig’s destruction of defenses is just a norm that we need to start accepting.

I asked Steelers OLB TJ Watt what he had to say about Nick Herbig’s performance in place of the injured Alex Highsmith:

If Alex Highsmith has to miss time due to his groin injury, the fullback position opposite TJ Watt is in good hands. Herbig will continue to prove to himself, the coaches and the fans that he deserves to be on the field as much as possible.
