THE New Orleans Saints opened the NFL’s Week 7 slate against the Denver Broncos on “Thursday Night Football.” The downside of having such a quick turnaround comes with the upside of having 10 days off until the next game.
With all the team’s injuries, New Orleans could use the extended layoff to rehab before facing the Los Angeles Chargers. They could really use a week off, but it’s not for an extra month.
It looks like we’ll see Spencer Rattler, but Dennis Allen seems optimistic about Derek Carr playing against the Carolina Panthers in Week 9.
“Do I think he’ll be ready for the game against the Chargers? I’m not sure. I think it’s debatable. I think it’s certainly very likely for next week,” Allen said.
The decision will depend on Carr’s evaluation over the coming days. The plan is to “see how he does over the next three or four days, and that will probably give us a much clearer idea of his availability for this weekend.”
If Carr shows solid mobility, there’s a chance he returns after the break. We will probably have an assessment on this early next week.
