    Bengals rival Ravens add key receiver before trade deadline

    The Baltimore Ravens, one of the Cincinnati Bengals’ toughest rivals in the AFC North, have reportedly added another offensive playmaker to their roster. On Tuesday, multiple reports indicated that the Ravens had reached an agreement with the Carolina Panthers to acquire wide receiver Diontae Johnson. would send the Panthers a fifth-round pick in exchange for Johnson and a sixth-round pick. The announced trade comes exactly one week before the NFL trade deadline on November 5. If made official, the move would return Johnson, 28, to the same division in which he spent the first five seasons of his career. Pittsburgh Steelers in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft, Johnson played in Pittsburgh until the end of the 2023 season before being traded to the Panthers during the offseason. Through seven games during the 2024 season, Johnson has 30 catches for 357 yards and three touchdowns. The sixth-year forward would join a Ravens receiving corps that also includes Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman, to accompany the dynamic duo of quarterback Lamar Jackson and running back Derrick Henry. Johnson was a reliable weapon during his time with the Steelers, hauling in 391 receptions for over 4,000 yards and 28 touchdowns from 2019 to 2023. From 2020 to 2022, Johnson was heavily targeted by Pittsburgh quarterbacks, with 2021 representing the Johnson’s best season to date. The Toledo product has 107 catches for 1,161 yards and eight touchdowns this season. Johnson is set to join a 5-3 Ravens team that sits in second place in the AFC North behind the 6-2 Steelers. The Bengals, 3-5 after Sunday’s home game. defeat against the Philadelphia Eagles, will face Baltimore for the second time this season, on Thursday, November 7.
