NFL Injury Tracker Week 10: Trevor Lawrence likely out, Christian McCaffrey expected to return, CeeDee Lamb ‘recovering well’

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence appears to be ruled out of the team’s game Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings.

We don’t know much about how Lawrence injured his shoulder, or even what’s wrong with it. He was everywhere against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 9, going 16 of 31 for 169 yards and two interceptions. He passed for two touchdowns, but both were rushing touchdowns, so neither of them significantly involved his throwing shoulder.

Asked about his QB on Wednesday, head coach Doug Pederson said Lawrence was “sore” and would be limited in practice. He was also evasive when asked if Lawrence would be healthy enough to play against the Vikings.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL NetworkLawrence is reportedly evaluating his treatment options for his shoulder, and surgery is on the table. Rapoport said on that while no surgery is planned at this time, it is one of the options Lawrence is considering.

McCaffrey expected to return for the 49ers

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said Thursday he expects the All-Pro running back to make his season debut this week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after a performance “impressive” in training the last two days.

McCaffrey was out the entire season due to Achilles tendinitis and calf tightness, with the issues first arising when he was scratched late in Week 1. He was quickly placed on injured reserve, with a unclear timetable for returning to the field.

He was treated by a specialist in Germany in September and only returned to training this week. This week, he was listed as a limited participant in practice.

With McCaffrey out, the 4-4 Niners have struggled to replicate their success from last season, due to both the running back’s absence and other factors. Jordan Mason handled the bulk of the running duties, posting 685 rushing yards and three touchdowns while averaging 5.1 yards per carry (McCaffrey averaged 5.4 yards last season).

Cowboys’ Lamb wants to play despite shoulder injury

CeeDee Lamb has a banged up shoulder after the Dallas Cowboys’ loss to the Atlanta Falcons last week. He finished the game and was limited in practice, but he has progressed enough and feels confident being on the field against the Eagles.

“I feel like I’ve taken a big step forward during the week in the last two or three days,” Lamb said. “But I’m fine, I was running today, I was right.”

Lamb, who doesn’t plan to wear a brace of any kind, will have a new quarterback thrown at him this week. With Dak Prescott out with a hamstring injury, Cooper Rush will assume starting duties as the Cowboys look to end a four-game losing streak.

“We’re connected, we’ve taken a lot of reps outside of practice just to talk, communicate, be on the same page,” Lamb said. “I think it’s very important with the situation that’s coming up and I’m happy for him, we know what Coop can do, the confidence is still there.”
