Tyrann Mathieu hints at how many years he plans to play professional football

The tyrant Mathieu is not about to retire from professional football and hang up his boots, but the New Orleans Saints has a plan in mind for the future. He was also frustrated by his LSU Tigers‘ defeat against their long-time rival, Florida Alligators like any other fan on Saturday night, which led Mathieu to drop some clues about his future.

In a few tweets since deleted on TwitterMathieu said he “can’t wait to get to Baton Rouge and coach,” and can’t wait to “trade in my cleats for some turf shoes.” But first he has some unfinished business with the Saints to take care of. Mathieu added that he wants to “play at least 2 more years” before making this transition.

Patience ran out with high-profile LSU head coach Brian Kelly being seen arguing with players during the game’s broadcast. The proud program had lost four or more games in just seven seasons dating back to 2000, but Kelly did it twice in his first three years on the job. He doesn’t meet high standards, and famous alumni (with ambitions of becoming a coach themselves) like Mathieu notice this.

    .

Let’s hope that Mathieu’s retirement is still on schedule and in a few years. He’s been the most consistent playmaker in the Saints secondary since returning to town, and they don’t have a long-term replacement to replace him. But when the time came, Mathieu clearly worked hard to move on to the next stage of his life as a footballer.
