THE Giants signed an offensive tackle Phillips Tire and quarterback Tim Boyle to their practice squad after practicing with the team on Tuesday.
This is now Phillips’ third stint with Big Blue, the last being last season, when he started 10 consecutive games in place of the injured player. Evan Neal.
The 27-year-old stepped in and played well for a struggling unit until he tore his quad in Week 17.
Phillips went unsigned as he faced the long road to recovery this offseason, but now that he’s fully healthy and ready to potentially contribute again, the Giants have taken another flight.
Boyle bounced around the league primarily as a backup for six years and his most recent experience came earlier this season when he was forced to play in two games for the Miami Dolphins in place of injured backups. Skylar Thompson And Tyler Huntley.
He completed 62 percent of his passes in his 22 professional appearances, but he also turned the ball over 12 times.
Even though Boyle is only on the practice squad at the moment, adding a veteran like him to the team is further proof that the Giants have no plans to have Daniel Jones take another shot this season so as not to risk triggering the injury guarantee in his contract.
