While the Dallas Cowboys live without Dak Prescott, a new quarterback has hit the market.
Daniel Jones is looking for a new home after being released by the New York Giants on Friday. Although he is a familiar name for the Cowboys, would Dallas benefit from adding the veteran to their roster?
According to Cowboys Executive Vice President Stephen Jones, fans shouldn’t expect a new addition at signal-caller.
“No, I think we’re in good shape at our quarterback position. We believe that Cooper [Rush] gives us the best chance to win now. And we certainly want to see more. We’ll kind of see how the season goes here,” Stephen Jones told the San Antonio Sports Star on Friday. “We still really want to see [Trey] Lance and I love what he brings to the table. And then, of course, in the long run, we all know that we made our commitment to Dak. [Prescott] in the long term. »
Daniel Jones told reporters Thursday that he gave the team everything he had after being taken sixth overall in the 2019 draft and he believes he still has a future in the NFL. He held himself responsible for the Giants (2-8) making the playoffs once during his tenure.
He went 24-44-1 as a starter in New York, capturing a significant portion of those wins in 2022 when the Giants went 9-7-1 and beat Minnesota in the first round of the playoffs.
The Giants should move forward with Tommy DeVito starting against Tampa Bay this week.
