Ancient Indianapolis ColtsQuarterback Andrew Luck will have a new job title, being named general manager of the Stanford football program, according to ESPN.
With the college football landscape constantly changing, the role luck will play at Stanford could become more important in the sport in the years to come.
As Pete Thamel noted in the ESPN report, Luck will be involved in everything related to the Stanford football program, from the obvious football component to the business side as well.
Thamel adds that Luck’s duties in football include, among other things, managing the coaching staff, player personnel and recruiting.
On the business side, luck will be about fundraising, sponsorships, attendance, sales, stadium experiences and much more.
āIām excited,ā Luck told ESPN. “I think Stanford is taking an assertive and innovative step. We are without a doubt the best athletics department in college sports. We need to prove that again in football, and we are excited to be part of that challenge.”
Luck, of course, is a decorated Stanford alumnus. He was a finalist for the Heisman Trophy twice, finishing behind Cam Newton in 2010 and Robert Griffin III in 2011.
In those two seasons, Luck completed 71 percent of his passes for nearly 7,000 yards with 69 touchdowns and 18 interceptions.
Luck was the Colts’ first overall pick in the 2012 draft. In six seasons with the team, Luck completed 61 percent of his throws for 25,926 yards with 183 touchdowns and 96 interceptions before retiring in 2019.
Luck would lead the Colts to the playoffs in four of his six seasons at the helm.
The 2024 season was Stanford’s first in the ACC. They finished with a record of 3-9.
